Arsenal

Arsenal traces its origins to 1886, when David Danskin and fifteen fellow munitions workers formed Dial Square in Woolwich. The club passed through the names Royal Arsenal F.C., Woolwich Arsenal and The Arsenal before adopting Arsenal Football Club in 1919. Royal Arsenal became London’s first professional club in 1891, and Woolwich Arsenal entered the Football League in 1893 as its first southern member. From 1913 to 2006, Arsenal Stadium served as the club’s historic home. Herbert Chapman’s tenure from 1925 to 1934 marked a defining early era: his team won the FA Cup in 1930 and secured league championships in 1930–31 and 1932–33. Arsenal went on to add another FA Cup and five First Division titles during the 1930s, with the 1933–34 championship completed under Joe Shaw after Chapman’s death. In a later chapter, Arsène Wenger managed the club from 1996 to 2018, a completed period that stands among Arsenal’s most consequential managerial eras.
